I've been advised that it would be better for me to have my blog hosted by a blogging service with professionally designed templates, and, having thought about this, I can see that this is true. It would certainly cut down the amount of time I spend fiddling with HTML code and would increase the ease with which I blog and, also, the potential for reader satisfaction.

That being so, as of January 2006 my blog has moved from here to hughcook.blogspot.com.

A good point about the new blog is that it is very easy to upload photos, and I have a vast supply of these, and will soon have more, after I start reacquainting myself with Japan, digital camera in hand.
