Like the other books in the OCEANS OF LIGHT trilogy, this volume, NORTH OF PARADISE, is a self-contained novel in its own right, complete with a beginning, a middle and an end.
The chief protagonist is Heineman Yakaskam Jubiladilia, the President of the archipelago of Chalakanesia. He has a tough job to do, and the difficulties of his situation are made worse by his own errors, which cause his confrontations to escalate.
While Heineman is, for his term of office, the rule of the entire archipelago of Chalakanesia, he resides on the island of Islam Demaxus, which sits athwart the metapsychic faultline. On account of the paranormal influence of the metapsychic faultline, life on Islam Demaxus can never be guaranteed to be normal.
But President Heineman has things worse than the faultline to worry about: human beings.
At the outset, an assassination attempt is made on his life. Reality is entering crisis mode, and Heineman's personal survival — and much more — is going to end up being at stake.
While the action moves along, NORTH OF PARADISE explores the alternative reality environment in which Heineman and his sister Atlanta live. A reality wildly different from ours.
