Pain without utility. Organic necessity bringing back Sweet memories of evacuation! Now it is bolus time, Cemented continuity, Costive, reluctant, Inhibited by coats of paint, Marooned in anticipation. The urinating city posts no headlines As the siege continues, Forced painful failure Conjuring images of mutant lust, Of blind things pushing through the blood of the earth, Bulbed, reckless, impatient of pain, Needfully destructive. Confrontations with absolute need Abort, continue, Abort, continue, At last Coaxing the serpent head of effort From a peek to a Reluctant pause. Then a cosmic event, Earthquake oozing, An all-absorbing thrust, A slither of disgorgement Plundering out of the deeper vaults, Triumphant. In the cathedrals of applause The chanting bells Hosannah the outcome. The achieved has been achieved! My grinning cosmos capers And my joys Flush the universe. |

Author's note: this poem is a souvenir of being trapped in a room for five days with nothing but hospital food to eat. The next time I took along my own raw fruit for fiber.
